Body care should be more than just applying something to mine and my family’s skin, it should be a regimen of things that helps to improve our overall health. Nature gave us a lot of natural things that are pure goodness for our bodies and we should take advantage of it and use them. If we choose our body care products wisely, we not only can provide our skin with amazing care, but we can use them as one piece of the pie of a holistic approach to taking care of ourselves.
I have been looking for products to replace various items that I have stopped using over the last 6 months and I occasionally find a company/product that I think looks good, but I often soon realized that most companies might say that their products are 100% natural, but their opinion of natural and my opinion of natural are two totally different things. When I turned to the actual ingredient list I would be surprised to find that although the ingredient might have started out natural, it oftentimes had been chemically altered, and I do not think that chemically altered is the definition of natural.
Almost anything and everything we put on our bodies is absorbed by our skin. EKKKK!
Then last month I found Wildwood Soapworks. Sally Cates owns the company and hand makes every single product. I spent time talking to Sally on the phone about the products, ingredients, and even other so called natural products I had seen on the internet. She is extremely knowledgeable; not only does she know the products inside and out, she understands what each ingredient does to the product in regards to a holistic approach of taking care of ourselves; and she even knows about ingredients that are not in her products, both good and bad. And Sally isn’t afraid to tell you everything she knows - she loves to share her wealth of information; she wants people to make informed decisions about the products they use.
Another thing I learned about Sally, she loves what she does and is passionate about it. She absolutely loves providing people with products as nature intended. Nature has so much to offer us! Essential oils and herbs can do wonders for our bodies and minds and if used correctly in products the consumer shouldn’t have to worry about toxicity from bad chemicals or harm to the environment.
I got off the phone actually feeling good about Wildwood Soapworks products and working with Sally!
Wildwood Soapworks products are ONE HUNDRED PERCENT NATURAL with nothing synthetic; no fragrance oils (see my previous post on fragrance oils), no artificial colors, no harmful chemicals, and no artificial preservatives. Just 100% natural goodness. Every product they use is safe. I don’t have to worry about Ethan sucking on his hands after I use something on him, or even him eating the whole tube of lip balm, and I don’t have to worry about our bodies absorbing the products because I know they won’t harm us! This is what body care should be about; and this is what it is to our family.
This is the beginning of a series of review posts on Wildwood Soapworks and their products. Enjoy!
